BookPlan 2024: How to Market Your Nonfiction Book
April 3–5, 2024
Join us April 3–5 for a 3-day online event where authors and marketing/publishing professionals from the Berrett-Koehler community share strategies and tactics for launching your book, reaching your audience, and expanding your impact.
You’ve done it. . . . You signed the publishing contract, sent in your manuscript, just approved the first round of edits, and are now sitting at your desk, contemplating your book’s quickly approaching launch date.
And that’s when the questions start coming:
“Wait a minute. How do I market this?”
“I have a vague idea of who my audience is, but how am I going to find them or reach them? Or convince them to listen to me?”
“I’m already super busy running a business. How do I market my book on top of that?”
“Should I hire a PR firm?”
“How can I build a larger movement around the ideas in my book?”
If that’s you, then you need a plan . . . a book plan!
BookPlan (known as the BK Nonfiction Book Marketing Workshop from 2006 to 2023) is a 3-day online event where authors and marketing/publishing professionals from the Berrett-Koehler community share strategies and tactics for launching your book, reaching your audience, and expanding your impact.
BookPlan 2024 will run Wed–Fri, April 3–5. Register now and save your seat!

Who You’ll Meet
The workshop sessions will be taught by over 20 bestselling authors, successful thought leaders, and accomplished marketing professionals, including Jessica Norwood, Jack and Patti Phillips, Sam Horn, Adrienne Hill, Marcia Reynolds, Rob Jolles, Luz Corona, Kelly Taylor, Joel Schwartzberg, Eliza VanCourt, Perry Hooks, Ben Guttmann, Corey Perlman, Stacey Hall, Heather Younger, Tony DiCostanzo, Ann-Marie Nieves, Kristen Frantz, Christy Kirk, and others!
Interspersed throughout will be several hours for networking and small-group interaction, so that you can learn from the presenters and your peers, ask questions, and build connections.
Many of our past attendees cite the networking as among the most valuable aspects of our workshop.
Why the BookPlan Workshop Is Unique:
- We focus exclusively on nonfiction. Most book marketing events serve both fiction and nonfiction authors. We focus specifically on how to market nonfiction books with a message: books on business innovation, personal development, social change, and organizational improvement.
- We focus on published or soon-to-be-published authors. Many workshops focus heavily on the process of getting published (query letters, pitches, etc.) and not on what you need to do after you sign the publishing contract to build an audience, sell books long-term, and make a lasting impact with your message.
- We’re online but still interactive. Forget the hassle of travel, hotel lodging, and parking. But also forget staring at a pre-recorded video series. Our workshop is packed with time to discuss ideas in small groups, brainstorm, receive feedback, and ask questions.
- We offer a network of support. BK Authors, the hosting organization of BookPlan, is a close-knit group of nonfiction authors with activities year-round. At BookPlan, you can develop friendships with other authors who can help hold you accountable and actively support your book marketing efforts.
- We provide breadth of expertise. This workshop isn’t one author’s “secret formula” (which only works for them). Instead, our speakers come from a variety of companies and represent a wide range of experts, including bestselling authors, publishing professionals, publicity agents, marketing strategists, and social media managers.
