We follow a budget each year to ensure that expenses do not exceed revenue.
Our annual BK Author Retreat is priced so that attendee registration fees cover the retreat expenses (retreat space rental, meals, registration supplies, snacks, and paying our on-site coordinator). It is not a revenue-generating event.
Our operating revenue for the rest of the year (used to pay for our website hosting, software subscriptions, and our part-time operations manager) are funded by (1) membership dues and (2) revenue from our annual BK Nonfiction Book Marketing Workshop.
Bookkeeping is performed regularly by our operations manager and overseen by our treasurer. Financial reports are submitted quarterly to the board of directors and presented each year at our annual members meeting.
