Opening Keynote

For many of us, the words “book marketing” elicit fear, nausea, or at the very least, grudging submission.
It doesn’t have to be that way.
In our opening keynote address, Adam Christing will show how humor builds deeper reader and fan connection while making book marketing feel human and fun. Because if you’re having fun, your readers will, too!
Adam will share how he created “Laugh Launchers,” a book-launch community that fueled real visibility for his book The Laughter Factor. You’ll learn practical ideas for rallying your supporters, marketing with fun and creativity, and getting booked as a speaker and podcast guest.
Get ready to learn, and get ready to laugh!

How BookPlan Stands Out from Other Workshops
We are a community, not a company. BK Authors, the nonprofit organization that hosts BookPlan, is a close-knit group of nonfiction authors who give freely of their time to support each other. With the exception of a part-time operations manager, none of the event planners or presenters are paid: we are doing this because we genuinely care about helping you and your book succeed!
We focus exclusively on nonfiction. Most book marketing events serve both fiction and nonfiction authors. We focus specifically on how to market nonfiction books with a message: books on business innovation, personal development, social change, and organizational improvement.
We focus on published or soon-to-be-published authors. Many workshops focus heavily on the process of getting published (query letters, pitches, etc.) and not on what you need to do after you sign the publishing contract to build an audience, sell books long-term, and make a lasting impact with your message.
We’re interactive. Forget staring at a pre-recorded video series. Our workshop is packed with interactive time to discuss ideas in small groups, brainstorm, receive feedback, and ask questions.
We offer a network of support. At BookPlan, you can develop friendships with other authors who can help hold you accountable and actively support your book marketing efforts. Then you can keep connecting with those authors at the events we host throughout the rest of the year.
We provide breadth of expertise. This workshop isn’t one author’s “secret formula” (which only works for them). Instead, our speakers come from a variety of companies and represent a wide range of experts, including bestselling authors, publishing professionals, publicity agents, marketing strategists, and social media managers.
